Striped furniture

I paint a piece of furniture.

Step back, and look at it and decide it needs a little something extra.

Like a stripe 🙂

Stripped buffet

This piece would have been fine just painted white, but I wanted it to make a more casual statement.

I think the distressed stripes did just that.

Blue desk

A solid blue desk would have been just fine and maybe a little boring without the stripes.

leggy end table

This leggy end table went from French stuffy to striped fun!

Chest

One wide stripe wrapped over this piece with an assortment of hardware  woke up this girl up.

kids table

This kids table was pretty in white, but why not put fun stripes on it?

coffee table

From brown traditional to striped and trendy 🙂

Except for the last one, I could have named this post striped and blue pieces!

I am such a creature of habit, can you guess what color I paint with the most!

    1. I recently painted a table with Annie Sloan chalk paint. I wanted to strip it and used the blue painters tape. I was so disappointed that the tape lifted the base color. What’s the secret to painting stripes and using tape?

      • Sharon, the only secret that I know is to make sure the paint is dry/cured. Another thing to do is remove the tape sooner. Don’t leave it on until the stripe dries, take it off after you paint.

        • Debbie, Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. Next time I will try your suggestion regarding removing the tape before the paint has a chance to dry. Fortunately in my case, the chipping added to the look and I was happy with the end result.

    2. Debbie, I L-O-V-E all the stripes. And you’re right, a little stripe here and there can be the perfect finishing touch to keep it nice and casual. I like your style.
Are these great photos taken in your new shop? I’m so excited for you.
      Cheers to you and yours,
      Therese

    3. I like your stripes, particularly the first and the last. I’m loosing track of what I have pinned and what I haven’t, so I pinned them…maybe for the second time.
