Mod Podge Tabletop

I bought this table at an estate sale.  Solid wood, but the top was worn.  I used Mod Podge and wrapping paper to makeover the top.  Or you could use a map like I used here: Summer Entertaining

Supplies Needed:

Paper

Mod Podge

Rolling pin

Matte Poly

Paint

Purdy Paint Brush

I cut the paper just a little larger than the top of the table, spread the Mod Podge evenly over the entire top.

Use the rolling pin to smooth out the bubbles.

After it dried, I used my x-acto knife to trim the edges.

For added protection I coated the whole thing with a matte poly.

I used my Purdy paint brush and painted the base to match the paper and used sand paper to distress.

It doesn’t even look like the same table. Thank goodness ๐Ÿ™‚

Paper, Paint and Mod Podge to the rescue!

    1. I love this idea! My end table is wearing- – badly lol and I’ve been looking for a way to fix it up because it’s one of my favorites, plus it’s sturdy. This idea looks great! Thanks!

    4. I just mod podged some old (really old) tv trays with memory book papers with birds tore and overlapped paper then stamped some birds in black ink. Everyone loves them and want some for Christmas,so now I need to start looking for more mismatched tv trays. Your table is awesome going to try homemade chalk paint, want to do some cabinets and the cost will be better homemade style,

    5. Your table is lovely! I’ve only recently discovered Mod Podge (why, yes, I have been living in a cave – why do you ask?), and I’ve been thinking of lots of projects I would like to use it for (if only I can drag myself away from my stitching!)

      Have a wonderful week, Debbie!

    6. Such a perfect finish! I have yet to find anything as versatile as Mod Podge when it comes to crafting. The minute I saw this I was mentally going through my inventory in my mind. You always have such a great eye for makeovers! I am with the other ladies; where did you find such amazing paper?! I have looked, but never seem to find such beauty in the wrapping aisle. LOVE this table! *Pinned ๐Ÿ™‚

    7. Hi Debbie!! What a beautiful transformation! I am pinning this and using it to inspire me to make over a small dropleaf side table I purchased a while ago at Goodwill….its mahogany stained wood and I have been staring at it for a month wondering how to make it over for my bedroom…now I know!! Where did you purchase the paper? It really makes a statement doesn’t it? I love all things script! Love the distressing on the legs too! Have a great weekend! Heather ๐Ÿ™‚
