Outdoor Living

The best part about scrubbing and cleaning your outdoor area is dressing it up! Is it time to fix up your outdoor living area? Fabric is a great place to start!

FabricI wish I could say that I just needed to sew up a few pillows or seat cushions. ย But, I’ve learned to take the bad with the good. When I walked down to our little rustic dock all I saw was project after project. ย Weather worn wood, spider webs, molded dirty chair cushions. Work, work work…that’s what I did. ย I used the blower to remove the debris and the pressure washer to clean things up. There’s still work to do, I’m really thinking about using a restore product for the wood and a few of the screens need to be repaired, but other than that things are looking pretty good.

To reward all my hard work, I sewed a few new pillows and replaced a few seat cushions.

These bar stools are out here 24-7 and the seat cushion covers were paper thin and you could just rip them off with very litter effort. ย I used aย marine quality fabric from OnlineFabric.net, similar to this turquoise vinyl. ย The color is beautiful and I love it!

Fabric Triple PillowsFor these pillows, I sewed together several different fabrics. I’ll be sharing the tutorial soon, so you can mix and match too! I can use these on the dock or on the back porch, they coordinate with everything. The polka dotย is so fun and goes great with all the other colors and just puts a smile on my face!

Fabric refreshing water

Fabric Barstools Seaquest Emerald VinylThere are a couple of easy ways to refresh a space. ย One is with paint and the other is with fabric. These fabrics are so affordable and beautiful, I’m thinking of making more with a different color scheme. ย I have my eye on some coral flamingos ๐Ÿ™‚

Fabric Rocking Chair 2For the rocker cushions I used the colorful fabrics just bring the space to life, with it’s beautiful blues, greens and oranges it wakes up the space. ย The outdoor fabric was my jumping off point, when I decided on it, I was on a quest to find happy partners for it! ย And any of the pillows look greatย plunked down on these cushions!

Fabric Rocking Chair CushionsAll I did was create new pillow/seat covers for all these pieces. ย It’s amazing what a little fabric can do and very little sewing skills ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fabric Loveseat pillowsFor the love seat it’s all about orange, one of my other favorite colors. Loving all the happy colors!

I’m so HAPPY!

    2. I think the bright aqua marine color works really well for covers on outdoor chairs, especially how you have them by the dock. It fits in with the water theme.

    3. Thanks for that awesome article! I just painted the one new drywalled wall in my daughter’s room at our new cottage an aqua color that she picked out. Valspar’s Aqua Glow, I believe (her half bath was Coral Springs so it looks nice together with the door open. ANYWAY, the aqua shade in the fabric shown would be nice for pillows on her bed, and I LOVE the green as a complimenting color. I LOVE color so much, but always find myself playing it safe a bit. You should see my house. Lol. My daughter is pushing me to challenge myself more so I’m trying that with the cottage (baby steps!). We did paint our living room/dining/kitchen area walls Benjamin Moore’s Breath of Fresh Air, which ended up being their color of the year, I believe. That was a big step for me for a large living area.

    6. The colors you chose look fantastic. The fabric store has so many gorgeous fabrics, how in the world do you decide? I hope I can take advantage of the sale but just so confused as to what to order. Thanks so much for sharing.

    7. Gorgeous colors and I would love a nice outdoor area like that. We need to use a restore product on our deck. Always work to be done.
