Just like Dorothy’s famous line in Jerry Maguire, “You had me at Hello”our home had us at this:

When you walk in the front door, that’s what you see. Magazines laying all over the coffee table. Murphy’s blanket covering one of my white chairs. Windows that need to be washed. Oh yeah, the view of the lake (pond). It’s not big or deep but it’s a water view that looks great when you walk in our front door.

On the left you see my yard sale dresser, all fancied up with Annie Sloan chalk paint. ย I am going to paint this mirror, again for the I don’t know how many times. ย It’s on the makeover list, the list that floats around in my head that keeps me going from one project to the next…without finishing most of them.

Speaking of unfinished projects. ย I found this lamp recently (this year) at Goodwill for $7.99, it’s the largest lamp in the house. It reminded me of one of the Stray Dog lamps. I need to do a little refreshing, to get it up to Stray Dog par (like that will ever happen-Stray Dog par-giggle).

One project that I did finish—I am still loving all my beachy finds from our trip to Amelia Islandย earlier this summer.

Even though, I’ll be making some changes in this area soon (I use the word soon—loosely),

this will always be the view

Stay tuned for clean windows, new paint color, Stray Dog lamp make over…the list goes on and on and on!

    1. Okay that view is fabulous! Who cares about the unfinished projects when you get to look out at that everyday! Your home is so lovely Debbie, almost as beautiful as the sweet lady who lives there. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for sharing with us at Inspiration Friday!

    3. Debbie,
That gorgeous view would have had me too! Your home is lovely, everything is so cozy and warm. I just got back from Statesboro after spending a week and a half there with one of my best friends. She has lived in the Irongate sub. for almost 15 yrs and was a prof at GA Southern. She retired and is now teaching at Eastern U in Lexington KY for the next 4 yrs and then will move back. to GA . We had a blast going to all our favorite shops there and in HIlton Head. I really enjoy going spending time there! I am your newest follower and will be visiting often!

    4. Wow! Your home is amazing! I love the open feel it has and how the wood floors are set differently! I wanted to do that when we were laying ours but was afraid to tell the floor guys when they came. ๐Ÿ™‚

    9. Stunning view. How welcoming too. Tell me about your white slipcovered furniture. I recently purchased a sofa from IKEA and am really have issues keeping it clean. I’m just about to give up and get a darker slip. Any advice? Yours looks so nice…I wasn’t sure about adding a matching chair but after seeing this post I think I just may have to.

    10. Gorgeous! You’re right, I would have certainly bought the house for the pond view alone. So tranquil. You’ve done a lovely job of keeping everything simple and elegant so as to complement the view.

    11. Wow! What a view! Your entryway is beautiful. I was not familiar with Stray Dog but you are right, that lamp you bought looks a lot like one. I have a lamp base from my childhood (late ’60s) that we got in SF. Very Stray Dog worthy. I see a project coming on ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
