Back Porch

I can’t decide if I’m getting wiser as I get older or I’m just lazy.

While I was cleaning out the fountain, I started thinking.

It’s great to have all this outdoor space,

but with all the chotskies sitting around,

everything gets dirty, dusty, pollen filled, yada yada yada.

So I removed a bunch of stuff and it feels much better.

I don’t want to clean, I want to relax ๐Ÿ™‚

So we lit the candles Friday night,

and we sat around

enjoyed a drink or two,

and just enjoyed the view.

I think I’ll minimize some more and buy some long lasting candles ๐Ÿ™‚

What are you doing less of?

    1. Here~Here!
It all looks great, but if ya don’t have a maid… you need to think about maintenance!
I would rather enjoy life a little then constantly be cleaning.
I have simplified, but ti’s hard, because I want the “look” too.
I am always struggling for balance in that area.

    2. I am behind on everything this June. Blog reading and relaxing – both of which I want to do more of, not less. Maybe if I came to your patio I could accomplish those things?

what am I doing less of? relaxing…..I’ve been really busy lately, not going to slow down until after Haven. Lots to do before I go.

    4. Love this! I am so over too many outdoor “chotskies too.” I don’t like all the cleaning either. My front porch decor is very limited this year. I pulled a lot off of the back porch early this spring and have left if that way. I’ve changed out a few things with a few new decor but not added too. My husband was thrilled when I didn’t put much back out there so I’m really trying to keep it scaled back and enjoying it much more!

    5. With a view like yours, I would want to sit there and relax all day (and night!) I did some major cleaning of our front porch a few days ago and cleaned all those little decorative things. Haven’t put them all back yet and may not. I’m with you. Sometimes less is more (except when it comes to wine!)

    6. I love your porch, Debbie. It has a very relaxing feel. I find I’m much more relaxed in a minimal environment. I’m working on creating my own back porch paradise. I’m going to be pinning some of your photos to my patios and porches board for inspiration.

    7. I think you’ve got the right idea, Debbie. Time to relax and enjoy that pretty porch & never mind cleaning it. Less is more, right? Now if only I could take my own advice! lol

    8. Well, today, it’s been less of just about everything! But I’m with you — I’m starting to plant hardier plants, streamline the cleaning, etc. Hope you were able to enjoy your beautiful porch!

    9. It’s a constant battle to freshen up a space and then figure out what to do with the old. It doesn’t help that my Mother, in her attempts to downsize. keeps giving me stuff that she inherited from all the greats and the grands! I need a museum room now! Your space looks so lovely and inviting! Good job freshening it all up!!

    10. And, what a view that is !! I love your outdoor space, Debbie! And, while I love “chotskies” too, it’s NOT fun to have to constantly clean the ones we place outside. Blech. Your refreshed look is beautiful … glad that enjoyed a wonderful weekend out there, too!

    11. I feel the same way; I’d rather be enjoying myself than cleaning. We’re downsizing our lives so that we have less to take care, which will allow us more free time to do the things we want to do. BTW, your view is fabulous and your outdoor area is so inviting. What time should I stop by? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    12. Your porch is so beautiful Debbie! I still love your monogrammed planter and remember when you did that. It’s funny that you talked about minimizing because I was redoing my mantel yesterday and had it all filled up and then stepped back, took a look and started removing things! I don’t know why but I just needed it to be simplified. It was nice to actually see some of the wood! LOL! We must be kindred spirits my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

    13. Your back porch is lovely! Mine is tiny, so I don’t have room to put anything out there except our “Big Green Egg”, and a rubbermaid box (so chic, right? LOL) filled with the supplies for the grill.

I agree with you about “less is more”, though!

      Have a wonderful week!
