Aldi Christmas Finds for Crafters and Gift Giving

Live Videos · Crafts · Home Interior

A power outage sent me to Aldi, and I made the best of the unexpected break by picking up a few cute Christmas finds and sharing them from my car. What started as a quick trip turned into a fun little holiday haul filled with gingerbread measuring spoons, cozy pieces and small gifts I can use during the Christmas season.

An Unexpected Power Outage

The power company came to my door that morning and told me the power would be off while a transformer was replaced. I expected the work to take about an hour and a half, so I decided to run to Aldi before my meeting.

Several hours later, the power still hadn’t returned. My craft room was dark, my phone needed charging and I couldn’t use the heat tool I needed to finish the project from the night before. I grabbed my big cup of coffee, settled into the car with my car blankets nearby and decided to chat for a while.

Sometimes you have to work with the day you’re given. Mine happened to include a powerless craft room, lukewarm coffee and a car full of things I hadn’t planned to buy.

My Aldi Christmas Finds

Our Aldi has only been open for about a year, so I’m still having fun looking through all the seasonal items. The Christmas section had so many cute things that my quick trip turned into a much bigger shopping stop than I expected.

Gingerbread Measuring Spoons

One of my favorite finds was a set of gingerbread measuring spoons. The set included a tablespoon, teaspoon, half measurement and quarter measurement.

These would make a sweet little gift for anyone who enjoys baking during the holidays. They’d also be cute tucked into a kitchen themed gift with a dish towel or a few baking ingredients. The gingerbread details make an everyday kitchen item feel festive, and I love useful gifts that still bring a little Christmas fun.

Bear Cups and Other Small Pieces

I also found little bear cups and several small items that would work on a tiered tray. Tiny seasonal pieces are easy to add around the house because they don’t require you to redo an entire room. You can place one on a tray, tuck it beside a candle or add it to a small kitchen display.

I often use finds like these as free gifts during my sales. They’re fun to share, and I enjoy adding a little surprise to an order when I can. I also decided it would be fun to choose someone from the comments and send one of the Aldi finds as a giveaway.

Cozy Clothing and Socks

Aldi had socks and a corduroy shirt too. The tag called it a shirt, but I plan to wear mine as a lightweight jacket. I love finding something comfortable that I can layer, especially when the weather starts changing.

These weren’t craft supplies, but cozy pieces fit right in with holiday shopping. A pair of socks can go into a gift basket, and a corduroy layer is easy to throw on for errands or a day spent working around the house.

The Pumpkin Cookies I Needed

I also picked up pumpkin cookies, and those were delicious. They smelled good, tasted good and didn’t stay forgotten in a shopping bag.

I joked that the cookies were the one thing I actually needed. They weren’t part of any diet plan, so I only bought two. A small seasonal treat makes an unexpected day a little better, especially when the coffee has gone lukewarm and the power trucks are still parked nearby.

Little Finds Can Become Easy Gifts

As I looked through everything in the car, I kept thinking about simple ways to use these pieces for Christmas gifts. A small item doesn’t have to stand alone. You can combine it with something useful and make the whole gift feel more personal.

The gingerbread measuring spoons could go with a dish towel. A small crock pot could hold a few extra kitchen items for someone moving into an apartment. The bear cups could be paired with a favorite drink mix, and the socks could finish a cozy gift basket.

I had my two grandsons in mind when I saw a pair of small crock pots from Walmart for $25. They’re in college and share an apartment, so the smaller size could be useful for them. I liked the idea of putting a few other things inside and turning the crock pots into practical gifts.

Craft Ideas Waiting for the Power

Even during a shopping trip, my mind usually wanders back to crafts. I had also bought fur from Hobby Lobby in two different forms. First I had a yard cut, and then I found fur sold on a roll in another section.

I thought the fur would look cute on beading cap ornaments. A gift card could even be attached to the back with double sided tape, turning the ornament into part of the present. That gives the recipient something to hang on the tree after using the card.

Why I Like Adding My Own Spin

I share projects to give you ideas, and I love seeing how you change them to fit your own home. You might add a sprig, a candle or a different detail that works better with your style. That’s one of my favorite parts of DIY.

The same idea applies to inexpensive seasonal finds. You can use them exactly as they come, add them to a larger gift or mix them into decorations you already own. A little creativity helps each piece feel personal, even when it started on a store shelf.

My unplanned Aldi trip gave me several useful gift ideas and plenty to talk about while I waited for the transformer work to finish. Once the power returned, I had crafts waiting, fur ready for ornaments and a car full of Christmas finds to unpack.
