Copy Cat, oh I meant to say inspiration. I find inspiration everywhere. Whether it’s what someone’s wearing, a decorated space or one of my favorites, magazines or catalogs. Especially, Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, well you get the picture. Now Pinterest is all the rage and you better believe I’ll be putting my own spin on some of the stuff that I’ve been pinning! You can follow me there too!
I’ve see a lot of jar painting lately:
We were in Sam’s last weekend and I had to do a double take! This is what caught my attention:
Let’s look at that one more time:
It’s kind of like one those games where you circle what’s different! But then, that would be everything! What have been coping lately? Leave me a comment, so I can come see!
Thanks for stopping by!

These are awesome! My husband is wondering while I’m saving all the jars we use. He has no idea how many fabulous projects can come from those jars.
Blessings,
Carrie

P.S. Your blog looks FABULOUS!!!
Visiting from Debbie’s Party and I’m your newest follower! Wow! What about finding that magazine that is so similar to your blog name. And I agree with a previous commenter-you did better than the magazine! I’ve never painted jars but since I’ve seen this, I’m going to do so soon.
Oh dear, wow. That is amazing!! You did better than the magazine!! This is so cute!! Big bang for your buck!! 🙂
wow! amazing job!
I love it! Your magazine cover looks very real and you did a great job. Great photography.
Wow! Double take, I’ll say! They look like the same photo shoot!
It is an interesting idea, I love glass and I love paint…
This is totally awesome. I love how you made yours look like a mag cover with your blog title too. How cute is that?
And your headline about the 2 ideas per week if your not slacking had me hyisterical. So charming!
This is truly a great project and did a fantastic job on your copy cat version!
This is amazing! I could barely tell the difference between the two. Wow! Excellent photography, Debbie! What a cool theme for a party as well. 🙂

Your jars turned out really good. I’ve always painted the outside of mine w/folk arty scenes, but never thought of painting the inside. I love how you styled it as a magazine cover. ~Michelle {I popped over from Debbiedoo’s}
I love your painted jars and you did an amazing job of copying the original styling – flowers and all! I’m going to have to give that a try. What a cheap and cheerful way to decorate your mantel.
Thanks Jo! I’m following you too!
What a great copy!! How did you make it look like a magazine cover? That is too cool. Love the pained jars.
Kim, I took the picture the best I could to match and then I used Photoshop Elements (the cheap version of Photoshop) and added the text. Believe me I took a lot of pictures!! Thanks, Debbie
Now this is sooo cute and sooo good on the copying. I just love this idea…

I love your copy of this magazine cover. Great job and so bright and beautiful!
Wow! Right on the mark! I had to really look to see which was which! Great job!
Love it, love it, love it! Now I want to try it! Coming over from Debbiedoos!

Of course, I love your painted jars…so adorable! But you really went the extra mile for this challenge by adding the text to your photo so that it looks SO MUCH like the real magazine cover. It doesn’t hurt that your blog name is so close. Thanks so much for sharing your project with us.
Wow! amazing I think this is better than the original. That is a brilliant idea painting those jars, they look fabulous. You really knocked this out of the park.
What a wonderful fun project. I like your’s even better. Even I think I can do this one. Haven’t seen that magazine before but will be keeping my eyes peeled for it.
Thanks Debbie again for joining!
Oh my gosh if there was a winner of this linky party and I got to pick…it would be you! This is incredible. Well done. Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. Have a great July 4th weekend!
Well that photo IS inspiring, isn’t it? I’ve got so many jars & glass things I could do this with, and I just might!! My challenge would be always having fresh flowers to put in them. lol
Laura, No fresh flowers required, these are faux…just my magazine!
Deb!! I love the new digs!! On the jar painting…..I think you should try an “Orange & Blue” one…football season is coming up fast! 🙂
Thanks Janet, and great idea…War Eagle!!
So I’m new at this stuff.
Did you just dump paint into the bottles and roll it around? Was it simple acryclic craft paint?
I used a plastic spoon and drizzled it around the top and swirled it around to drip down the inside. Several hours later I turned it upside down to drain out any excess. Yes, it just from the small bottles of acrylic paint. That’s why I used fake flowers, I’m sure adding water will make it peel off! Good luck!
Debbie, I am wondering if you could put some sort of sealer on in the inside to get it not to peel with real flowers and water.
Angie,
Using acrylic paint, I think it would always peel. I did find this where they spray painted the outside:

Here’s some with glass paint on the outside
http://mygreenbraecottage.blogspot.com/2011/04/painting-mason-jars.html
At some craft store they sell glass paint, and I think you bake it on, not sure of the price. I took the cheap easy way and used fake flowers. I guess if your glass were big enough you could put another glass inside with water in it.
I hope this helps!
Debbie
Debbie,
That is so cute! I need some ideas to add some color to my condo (especially in the bathrooms) I think I might try this. You could just go to a local Goodwill and find some unique looking bottles.
Angie, Email me pictures of what you do. Good luck!
Well I am thinking that was your lines of thinking to join the party:), I would love if you mentioned that, so that gals that come to visit you will know about it for friday. I copied mine from the very same magazine…did you see the garden one I just did on the wood? Well my one for Friday is out of this magazine too…I just love it. I love what you did too. I almost took this one, but decided I would use what I had already on hand. Can’t wait to see you.
Thanks Debbie, I’ll be ready for the party, and I revised to mention the party. Thanks for hosting!!
Wow, what a bang for a little bunch of bucks-or no bucks! You should enter this on Friday at http://www.debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com for her copy cat party.
Thanks Vickie-I had already thought of mentioning the magazine and when I saw that Debbie was having a party-perfect timing!
