Some of my favorite holiday memories occurred every Christmas Eve, enjoying a meal with our neighbors. When you live sixteen hours from any family, your friends become your family. This yummy holiday recipe for an easy pizza appetizer will have them coming back every year 😉
Food can stir so many memories, I guess it makes you feel warm and cozy just like the people you share it with.
Here’s my recipe for Easy Pizza Appetizer.
This recipe is so easy and versatile, you will want to try all the crust options. For these I used pizza flat bread and cheese bread sticks, layered with a pesto base and sun dried tomatoes. (You don’t know this about me but I can almost eat both of those by the spoonful…but I didn’t.)
Here’s what you will need to make this quick and easy pizza appetizer.
preheat your oven to 375 | serving size as shown 16
- Crust – Flat bread for pizza, pre-made pizza crust or cheese bread sticks from your store bakery
- Sauce – Mezzetta Sun-Ripened Dried Tomatoes or Pesto
- Cheese – Mozzarella
- Mezzetta Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives
- Mezzetta Roasted Bell Pepper Strips
On your choice of crust, spread the dried tomatoes or pesto, top with cheese. Slice the bleu cheese stuffed olives and place on your pizza. Add the bell pepper strips.
Place your pizza on a cookie sheet or pizza pan and cook for 7 – 10 minutes. To brown the top, I turned the oven on to broil for a few minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on the pizza so you don’t brown it too much! Not that I have ever done this.
Cut with a pizza cutter and enjoy.
We looked forward to our Christmas eve date with the neighbors. We took turns every year, at our house one year and the next at theirs. We didn’t spend all day cleaning or cooking. You could even wear your pj’s if you wanted.
It was a no stress situation.
There had been weeks and weeks of shopping and wrapping and fretting about gifts and such. But tonight it was about relaxing with friends.
And food, the pizza or lasagna or whatever was so delicious.
We ate and drank and laughed.
Whispered about what gifts we had gotten for the kids.
We would go home, bellies full, grinning about what they said. We would wake up on Christmas morning, being thankful for friends that were family.

This recipe sounds absolutely delicious! I’m looking for a few apps to serve before our Thanksgiving dinner and who doesn’t love pizza? Can’t wait to try it. I have some frozen dough that can be used to make flatbread. The roasted red peppers and stuffed olives take it up a few notches. Thank you so much. Off to your link for the sweepstakes…sounds fantastic!
