Thrifty Brass Plant Holder Idea – Brass Ladle
Today our Thrift Store Decor team is sharing creative planter ideas. The first thing that went through my mind with this x-large brass ladle was that it would hold succulents or air plants perfectly in my kitchen window.
Air plants are a favorite of mine. I hear that it’s really hard to kill them and I like that best about them. My kitchen window is home to a couple of finicky plants right now. I’m adding these easy guys there to show them how it’s done.
Growing up Mama and Grandma always had some kind of plant in their kitchen window. Grandma was usually rooting a rose, hydrangea or some kind of vine. Mama currently has a cactus in the kitchen window and orchids hanging in the living room windows. I guess you could say we like window planting. You see where I’m going with this idea of a ladle hanging in the kitchen window with plants in it, right?
BRASS PLANT HOLDER – LADLE
You only need a few items to create this kitchen window ladle garden.
- moss
- air plants
- brass ladle
- mister
Add a little moss to the ladle. Before you add your air plants to the ladle, run some water in your sink and let them soak for several hours. After they’ve drained place your air plants around in the moss as you’d like. They love warm moist areas. Keep them happy by misting the bottom of plant. If you notice them drying out, pinch the dried area off the bottom of the plant and let them soak in water in your sink for a while.
My kitchen window is perfect, it gets indirect sunlight. The plants will thrive here in their Goodwill brass holder alongside the orchid and fern (both very picky plants).
Be on the lookout for thrift store plant holders even if they ladled soup in a former life.
