I use straight up vinegar in my laundry!
Laundry Vinegar Tips
This week we’re sharing the Ultimate Cleaning and Organizing tips, tricks, recipes and more! See all the links at the end of the post and their scheduled dates.
It all started with my husbands undershirts. No matter what I did, they just got dingy, especially the underarms. After researching my options, I decided to give white vinegar a try.
Top 5 Reasons that I love using White Vinegar in my Laundry
- vinegar naturally softens
- brightens
- helps to eliminate odor
- helps eliminate lint in new towels (I know – I had to try it to believe it)
- mix it with a little baking soda for stains
Beware, you will get a little fizz when you mix vinegar with baking soda! Just mix it well, dab your scrub brush in it and scrub the stained area.
Tip – It’s also great for freshening up your drains, just pour a little baking soda down the drain followed by a cup of vinegar.
I was so excited to find these ribbed white towels, I just knew I would love them! I threw them in the washer, dried them and placed them in our bathroom. All fresh and clean, ready to dry off with. You won’t believe the lint they left on our bods. I grabbed them up, put them back in the washing machine, set the dial to hot water and added 1 cup of white vinegar to the softener cup. The vinegar did the trick, eliminated the white fuzz!
I have a top loading HE washer and I noticed that if I closed the door, there was always a little bit of an odor, even though the washer looked clean. After using the white vinegar I don’t notice the smell any more.
I place a cup of vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser cup, just like you would fabric softener. It naturally softens the clothes and keep everything fresh. I have never noticed a vinegar smell and on occasion I will add a little lavender essential oil to the mix.
