Last year you joined me in Mobile Alabama for the beginning of Esther de Wolde’s (CEO of Phantom Screens), bucket list item #67. I am blessed and amazed to have been a tiny bit of her journey.
I tried to capture the wonderful after photos of the Phantom Screens fixer upper {Alabama Style} Southern Romance home but let me honest, it is so much more than you will see here today.
The history of the families, the lives they touched and the stories told beyond the front door are all a part of the romance of this home. Walls came down, plaster (of which Esther really wanted to keep) crumbled to the floor but what is left will wow you and leave you craving more. It did me.
Driving down the street, you can’t help notice the grandeur of the trees. Just a taste of what’s to come. Phantom Screens not only revived a house, they renewed the love of a home. It doesn’t have to be new or perfect to be a dream come true.
It felt like we were going to visit relatives, upon arrival, we were greeted at the front door by Esther. She let us explore the house for a few minutes on our own to snap photos and share the house live on Periscope. I was like a kid in a candy store, you have to remember what it looked like the first time we say it, see the first visit here.
From the front door to the back porch, you will see that the secret is in the details.
From the front door, you turn left for the living room and right for the Gentleman’s parlor. Or if you’re like me you want to run for the back door!
Esther kept the original fireplaces in the living room and dining room.
Back in the dogtrot just past the living room and parlor you enter the dining room on the left.
The kitchen underwent a huge change. It was love at first sight! From the naked doors to the original sink, the kitchen is perfect. Read all about it, click here, from who loved to cook and who didn’t and I hear there was awesome fudge made in this kitchen! Well not in this kitchen, but the one before this one 😉

This is a beautiful home! I’d love to live in a place like this. Though, the upkeep might be difficult.
That is such a beautiful house! It has so much Southern charm and as someone who grew up in the South, I adore how they made it feel like a combination of it’s history and present ammenities.
This is such a beautiful home. I love the elegance and simplicity of the decor. Those dramatic curtains in the living room and dining room are pure perfection!
Gosh this is incredibly beautiful. The back porch and outdoor areas are just as pretty as the interior.
I. Am. DROOLING!!! That porch is SO amazing! The inside is so gorgeous! I hardly know what to pin first!

What a beautiful restored home! I would love to cook in that kitchen or just hang out in the back yard. I love living in the south and seeing grand homes brought back to their former glory. Simply beautiful!
Oh, what a perfectly lovely Southern home! All I kept thinking was how much I would love to live in a home like that. The restoration was so incredibly and respectfully done, the attention to detail is awesome. I tried to pick a room I liked the best and it was impossible, although I could really picture myself with family and friends in that beautifully restored dining room. The front facade of the home is so welcoming in its simplicity and beauty. It really does give the unspoken prologue to the treasure through the front door. Lucky, lucky you for having been able to be a part of this restoration and decorating experience. I almost forgot, that the home is located in Mobile, AL is icing on the cake!
Thanks so much Judy, it was beautifully done! I am very lucky 🙂
