Does this dresser look familiar? Not too long ago I worked on her brother, the Mod Podge Map Dresser.
I faced the same challenge with this one: that flat front. I had been itching to paint something green, does that ever happen to you? I had this apple green color, so why not.
After I finished, I thought it needed something.
I had bought these paddles because I loved the blue/white combo. And they were standing right next to each other in my workshop crowded garage Everytime I walked in and out, I looked at them.
My first idea was to somehow attach them to the front of the dresser and then a very wise man talked me out of it. I could not get the blue and white out of my head.
That’s where the idea for the chevron pattern originated, I got my blue and white and lived happily ever after.
Now what to do with the paddles!
Of course there’s a little selected distressing too, gotta have that!
What have you been inspired by lately?

January 12, 2013 at 3:09 pmDebbie, I’m loving the green chest with the chevrons on it. Have you considered a way to attach the paddles to the sides of the chest? Or hanging them over it? Maybe crossed? Love that green…what is it with green lately. Maybe not so recent …there are 2 green bedrooms in this house. Just not the same green. Enjoyed seeing you work.
Thanks, Helen

January 12, 2013 at 12:30 amFresh! Young! I want to be those stripes 🙂 This will never go out of style Debbie. My little one, Valerie, who’s not so little anymore 🙁 …10, has been asking to buy these 2 chevron bean bags. They were $19.99 each. No way Jose…so she waited. They finally came down. They are pretty cool. I was explaining to her the chevron pattern in the store. So cute. Your dresser …just so cool. I love it.

January 11, 2013 at 1:59 pmNothing could make the winter doldrums disappear like a pop of apple green. In face, it would look really pretty against the white of the snow out my window.

January 11, 2013 at 12:11 pmI absolutely LOVE your blog, your creativity, and your personality and usually have nothing but great things to say but something has been bugging my eye and I just have to let you know in case it’s hurting others too, or hurting your traffic. The pictures that are slanted, too many, too much and things look SO much better taken straight on, without the angle. If you don’t believe me, just notice how Miss Mustard Seed or The Pioneer Woman do it. Your pictures are wonderful but the 45 degree angle doesn’t help. Hope that doesn’t offend, I most certainly only mean it as constructive criticism.
Keep up the great work and beautiful projects, I love them all… Olivia

January 11, 2013 at 1:08 pmThanks Olivia, I guess I just felt like the angles added interest to a simple dresser. I appreciate your opinion.
Sincerely,
Debbie
