GINGERBREAD HOUSE – WOOD made with $1 pieces from Michaels
Today is Dollar Store Design day and the team is sharing awesome ideas!! Be sure to visit all my friends at the end of the post. I can’t wait to share my easy DIY Gingerbread house idea with you. Can you believe I found these wood pieces for a dollar. I almost forgot about the dollar area at the front of Michaels, do you know about it? As soon as I walked in I spotted these and thought how Magnolia Market they looked! I know you’ve seen those little houses that Joanna from Fixer Upper released last year.
They started out pretty plain so I watered down some brown craft paint to make them look a little more like gingerbread. What do you think?
After the paint dried, I grabbed a pencil and free-handed some designs on them. On this one I wanted a barn look, if I were a real artist I would have left one of the barn doors open at the top and painted a horse. But I am not at that level, yet 😉
I used white craft paint and a small round brush to paint over the lines that I drew. This was so easy and I think they look way better than any gingerbread cookie that I’ve ever decorated.
The white trees are from Walmart, they were 87 cents and the farmer is from Dollar Tree.
I created this little scene on top of a cake plate. It really brightened up my buffet area.
PIN IT FOR LATER, be sure to share a photo with me if you grab any of these dollar wood pieces!
Time to see what everyone else created!
