Hello friends, welcome to the Alabama Farmhouse Spring Tour, thanks so much to Marty from A Stroll Through Life for inviting us to join in this fun filled week of home tours. Be sure to visit all my friends at the bottom of the post. There are so many beautiful homes to visit and you don’t even have to leave your house. Thirty home tours in 5 days!
If you’re visiting from Nesting With Grace – Brooke – Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! (Did you see Brooke’s kitchen – amazing!)
I don’t always have geraniums in the entry but when the temps drop below freezing after weeks of 70 and 80 degree days, I bring them in. I may have to add a pop of red here and there, they made me realize how good it would look!
Living Room
After moving from a home with three living areas, we are so happy to be able to entertain in one space. I’m still moving things around, fluffing and refreshing trying to find the perfect (LOL) spot for everything. It’s difficult trying to fit furniture from one house to another. We got rid of a lot, donations, sales, etc. I did buy four chairs from Ikea. I couldn’t help myself 😉
Decorating with shades of blue and green are perfect for a cheerful spring/summer look. Seriously, I love cheerful colors all year long. Casual furnishings and fun colors make me happy. I look around sometimes and wonder if I should have a more serious approach to decor especially at my age, I’ve been there and done that and prefer fun and comfort over mature.
I changed to curtains out, I bought the coral/blush stripes and you can see them in the room:: Refresh Living Room Layout.
I started with white walls and gray tones of furniture knowing that I would add color with pillows, curtains and when I saw this green poof, I knew my space was complete. (Green Poof is from Antique Farmhouse.)
I am contemplating painting the brick on the fireplace, but since we moving in mid December, I have been so busy with other projects I have not had time to even think about it. We put the television over the fireplace mantel, it was a tough decision for me, but I love it.
My Mama made this amazing water jug during a pottery class recently and she gave it to me!! She is so talented and she’s always up for learning an artsy craft. I love that we love much closer now!!
Dining Room
The dining room is open to the living room, I added the striped curtains in both areas. I walk in here and it looks so colorful and cheerful. They were so affordable and easy to change out for the seasons even though I may keep spring decor around all year long. There’s just something so soothing about the colors of spring.
Throughout the post I will be including clickable links to DIY projects. My home decor is mostly thrifted items that have been refreshed.
DIY: How to spray paint chairs.
DIY: Wooden Tool Box
Eat in Kitchen
DIY: Farm Fresh Sign
Truth is, I don’t really decorate much for each season. I spring clean, add flowers, change out the pillow covers – keep it fresh and take the opportunity to declutter.
