Farmhouse Ideas 2016 – The most loved projects this year! Thank you all for joining me on my DIY journey!
In the 80’s my home was filled with pine furniture pieces, like a pine farm table, a pine pie safe and a few pine pieces with hearts cut out of them. Fast forward to 2016 and most of those pieces have been painted with chalk paint in grays and whites and maybe a little duck egg blue thrown in and heavily distressed of course 😉 My taste hasn’t really changed, it’s just being called farmhouse instead of country and my dried flower wreaths and all their dust have been thrown away and in their place are magnolia wreaths and burlap. Creating a casual home is all I ever wanted to do, having Chip and Joanna from Fixer Upper bring farmhouse, rustic, country back was like an out of style country girls dream come true. Today, I’m sharing my top 10 farmhouse ideas, simple ways that anyone can add a little rustic farmhouse decor to their home.
Great thrifty find for the cookbook or iPad, I love using this in the kitchen.
This project is not from 2016 but it continues to be one of the most popular on the blog. Headboard benches are so easy to make. This one fits great in any room. I’ve used it at the dining table and in the guest room to add a little rustic charm.
These magnolias leaves look so real, I have used them for 2 seasons and they still look perfect!
Weekend DIY projects are the perfect way to add farmhouse personality to any home.
There’s nothing like a clean white kitchen. With the right product and prep you can brighten your cabinets in no time! My daughters kitchen looks so fresh now!

I’m not sure if the milk glass paint is still available at Lowe’s. My friend Kim painted a mixture of glass items and created the same look, find it: Easy Milk Glass – this is going to make you look at Goodwill glasses in a whole new way!
Looking forward to sharing my new (old) house with you in 2017!
